1986 Gibson Les Paul Pre-Historic Reissue Custom Shop Edition, one of a kind due to some very interesting specs! This one was spec'd to have an Ebony fretboard - super unusual to see, along with the Gibson badged Schallers with metal tips. Absolutely mind blowing flamed top, pictures really aren't doing it justice. Original Tim Shaw pickups which sounds great. This is identical to Knofler's "Brothers In Arms" Pre-Historic and only a mere couple of digits away from Slash's Pre-Historic's serial number. These guitars are getting increasingly more desirable and for good reason, they are phenomenal guitars. Previously had a different set of tuners, as shown in the listing, changed pickup covers to a set of Throbaks and has also had a professional re-fret and new nut. The unusual specs on this have been verified by Mike Sluboswki, of Vintage Guitar Magazine - an early Les Paul reissue expert, full details below. Includes OHSC.

Hi John,It is definitely a 1986 Les Paul Reissue with two non-spec features (the ebony board and the Gibson logo Schaller-style tulip tuners with metal tips) that warranted their putting the "Custom Shop" logo on the guitar. Everything else about it matches the specs for a Les Paul Reissue of that timeframe. The serial number font and placement, front of headstock, color, etc. all definitely tell the story. In 1986 there was no separate Custom Shop; these guitars were run on the regular production line but were handled separately. I notice that it's been refretted, probably because you've played her a lot.She is a beauty; congratulations, and keep playing!Peace,
Mike Slubowski"
